Online Teaching Degrees from Delaware Universities
There are various educational courses online for students in Delaware who cannot attend classes on campus. An online Master of Education in teacher leadership is offered at at least one university located in Delaware. Bachelor’s in Education Programs
Delaware State University (DSU), a NCATE-approved college, offers various bachelor degree programs with a wide range of majors including early childhood education (Birth-2, elementary education (k-6), elementary special education (1-8), middle level education (6-8), physical education (k-12), science education and secondary special education (7-12).
Another option for Delaware students in the University of Delaware (UD), which offers a 30-credit elementary teacher education honors degree and a regular elementary teacher education bachelor degree program. UD also offers teacher preparation programs in center for secondary teacher education, English education, foreign languages education, mathematics, music, social studies and science education.
The College of Education at Wilmington University offers a wide variety of teaching programs from associate degrees through doctorates and certificates. For baccalaureate programs, WU offers Bachelor of Science programs in career and technical education, education studies and an education program aimed at students after initial certification and licensure.
Master’s in Education Programs
DSU also offers master degree programs to bachelor degree holders interested in advancing their education and expanding their options. This university also offers 4+1 programs that allow the student to earn both bachelor and master degrees in either exceptional child and youth or TESOL.
WU offers Master of Education programs in areas like education studies, TESOL, elementary and secondary school counseling and special education to name just a few. Many of the programs offer several areas of concentration such as the education studies, which offers elementary education (K-6), secondary education (7-12) and special education (K-12). A Master of Arts in Teaching for secondary teachers is also offered at WU.
Teaching Certification & Specializations
DSU has a 51-credit doctoral degree program in educational leadership that can be completed in three years. Residents of the state of Delaware who are in teacher education programs may be eligible for the Scholar Teacher Education Program (STEP) scholarship. The Roger Noyce Teacher Scholarship is also available to teaching students at DSU.
The associate degree in elementary teacher education at UD acts as the first two years of the bachelor degree program in the same major. Additionally, the UD offers minors in educational studies, educational technology and urban education as well as three doctoral degree programs. The university also offers various post-master courses of study.
WU offers certificate programs in elementary and secondary school counseling, game based learning and school counseling as well as doctoral degrees in educational leadership and innovation; organizational learning, leadership and innovation; and higher education leadership and innovation.
